Just what is “confirmation,” anyway?

The Book of Common Prayer calls it “a mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism” for people who were baptized when they were babies or young children.  In other words, it’s an opportunity to take ownership of your own faith as a young adult.  If you’re in the 8th or 9th grade at Ascension, Sealed and Sent Forth is our program to help you get there.  Together, we explore questions like …

  • What does it mean to be Christian?
  • What does it mean to be Episcopalian?
  • What’s special about this parish community at Ascension?

and, most importantly,

  • What does it all mean to me?

We meet each Sunday morning from 9:02 to 9:50 am in the smaller meeting room of Ascension’s Youth House (the building on the uphill side of the parking lot).  We also have occasional special events outside Sunday mornings; please check out our calendar for the latest information.  We started our time together on September 7, but if you want to be confirmed this spring, you can still join the group by making arrangements with Stephen.  Guests, friends, and strangers are always welcome: hospitality is one of the most central components of being a follower of Jesus.  Please join us!
